Mission

Expansion of trade, economic and technological relations between Russia and Cuba (in the broad sense of the CIS and Latin America)

Objectives

Development of competences and increase of international competitiveness of Russian and Cuban enterprises through bilateral cooperation. To assist Russian and Cuban enterprises, organizations and entrepreneurs to increase trade turnover, search for investment opportunities and support projects.

About Association

The reactivation and elevation of trade and economic relations between Russia and Cuba, supported by the leadership of the two countries requires an understanding of the peculiarities of doing business in Cuba and interaction with government bodies and agencies. The attention of the leadership of the countries is focused on the development of large investment projects, and meanwhile the needs of the population can be provided by small and medium-sized businesses. With the support of the co-chairs of the intergovernmental Commission of Russia and Cuba, it was proposed to create an Association bringing together entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses to consolidate and centralize their interests in the implementation of projects in Cuba. The Association is also called upon to structure and adapt existing Cuban investment projects and to form a consolidated proposal of Russian companies for the implementation of such projects. Employees and experts of the Association have been active in business and social activities in Cuba for more than 15 years, and are involved in the country’s development projects.

RCBU participation in the business mission to Cuba

Vera Zimenkova, President of the RCBU Association, took part in the RUSSIA-CUBA BUSINESS DIALOGUE business forum as part of the Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which was held in Havana from May 17 to 20. This visit took place thanks to Tatiana Mineeva, the Commissioner for the Rights of Entrepreneurs of Moscow and her team.

The Russian delegation included more than 100 companies, for which meetings were organized with Cuban statesmen, the government, state-owned companies and entrepreneurs.

The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, and Vice Prime Minister of the Government of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz. The meeting of the Commission was attended by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel.

During the visit, many meetings were held between Russian and Cuban companies in various fields and areas of cooperation. In addition to discussing current Russian-Cuban projects, Cuban enterprises have initiated a number of new requests for consideration by Russian business. First of all, the supply of Russian goods to Cuba on a regular basis, including food and basic necessities, as well as heavy machinery products. In addition, projects were announced in the field of investment in commercial real estate, primarily tourism and trade; as well as the creation of joint ventures in the field of restaurant business; the development of IT areas; the development of payment services and much more.

Among the key outcomes of the forum is the creation of a Russian Trading house to organize regular deliveries of Russian goods to Cuba, and the decision to resume direct scheduled flights between Russia and Cuba from July 2023.

In addition, a meeting was held with Reynaldo Garcia Zapata, the Governor of Havana, who spoke about plans and projects for the development of the city and invited Russian businessmen to actively invest in various areas.
